Drives, that take place monthly, are a constant reminder to all those who are a
part of it, to not lose hope and continuously strive for these people who are
in need. Last month 800 food packages were distributed which included rice,
beans, lentils, pasta and bouillon cubes. For June however, the distribution
plan was a bit different. In the month of June, the distribution was carefully
divided into 3 segments. Each segment fell on a different day throughout the
month in which food was distributed to the needy.
The first
distribution that took place was especially for the children. These children
fall under “Children At Risk” which is a “Child Protective Services” program.
This program caters to providing education and safety to those children who
have alcoholic, unemployed or no parents at all. Due to the Child Protective
Services Program, these children learn to handle different situations, despite
the odds.
When these
children came to the reception desk in order to collect their food package, it
was noticed that they were extremely thin and in poor conditions. They were not
wearing proper clothing or shoes, because both of these articles were slightly
bigger on them. These children which ranged from the age of 6 to 12 were extremely
courteous and polite and received their food packages, along with a hygiene kit
and pencil box, with the utmost gratitude. These children and all those people
who have been gravely affected by the economic tumult in Puerto Vallarta constantly remind everyone how important
this project actually is. It is bringing a new life to all these deprived
individuals who have some how lost their beacon of hope. The food drive will
continue till the month of September, and in order to continue this
In the
beginning, for the months of May and June, the goals that were set for
distributing the food packages were easily met. But now, as time is passing on,
the flow of donations has fluctuated significantly, which is proving to be a
little problematic. The flow of the donations is hindered because many people

as a team, in order to get over this harrowing situation, because in the end it
is always going to be us, the people of Puerto Vallarta that bring about a
change, however little it may be. The next Food Drive packaging day will be on
the 6th Of July, make sure you send in your donations to the PVRPV office.
You can even contact for further information about our Packaging Party. And
during this time, please keep donating.
